Larry Widgeon
Larry Widgeon is the original founder of KITCO Fiber Optics. While he was the Fiber Optic Product Manager from 1990 until 1994 for Norfolk Wire & Electronics, he was tasked by the United States Navy to develop a full line of fiber optic sustainment and repair kits, which consisted of termination kits, test equipment kits, cleaning and inspection kits, and new designs for all types of fiber optic tools for the rapidly growing shipboard fiber optic industry. In conjunction with testing and sustainment kits, Larry assisted in the development of Measurement Quality Jumpers (MQJs), which are now the world-wide standard for consistently and accurately testing end-to-end fiber links to assure quality installations aboard all United States Navy vessels.
Consequently, Larry assisted NSWC (Naval Surface Warfare Center), Dahlgren, VA with the publication of the MIL-STD-2042 (SH). KITCO eventually developed a Certified, 5-Day, Hands-on Training Class and has trained literally thousands of Sailors, Soldiers, and Marines as well as Commercial Contractors.
Larry Widgeon is considered by many as a pioneer in the field of all aspects of fiber optics. His passion and enthusiasm for the fiber optic industry is unparalleled.
